A method to facilitate removal of wrap-round plates from the plate cylinder of a gravure printing press, which cylinder is provided with one or more clamping slots (9) which hold the hook-in claws (5) of the wrap-round plates (1), are sealed radially inward by means of a sealing strip (10) and, radially outward from the sealing strip (10), are provided with a filling which consists of a curable filler and is removed prior to removal of the wrap-round plate or plates (1), wherein a cut (12) extending over the cylinder width is made in the filling prior to removal of the wrap-round plate or plates (1).
