[origin: US4570993A] A pocket chair has two sections which are pivoted by a pivot axle to each other and which can be swung open to an aligned condition to define a seating surface. Legs are extended from the sections to support the seating surface above the ground. Each chair section has a portion which carries the pivot axle. The remaining portions of each section are movable in an extending manner relative to the axle-carrying portions, whereby the seating area can be enlarged. The legs can comprise a plurality of U-shaped pieces which fold into one another. Further, the legs of one section can be inserted into the legs of the other section when the chair is folded up.

Ein Taschenstuhl besteht aus zwei gegeneinander klappbaren offenen Kastenprofilen (2,3), in denen die zusammenklappbaren Standbeine (7,7',8,8') gelagert sind. Die der Schwenkachse der beiden Kastenprofile (2,3) zugewandten Seitenteile sind gegenüber diesen beweglich und ausziehbar, beispielsweise über Einsätze (17,18) oder mittels als Scheren ausgebildeter Hebel (13,13',14,14',15,15',16,16'). Hierdurch läßt sich die Sitzfläche im Vergleich zu den bekannten Ausführungsformen weiter vergrößern. Vorteilhaft bestehen die Standbeine (7,7',8,8') aus mehreren Teilen, welche U-förmiges Profil besitzen. Diese U-profile (10,10',10") lassen sich so ineinander anordnen, daß die in dem einen Kastenprofil angeordneten zusammengeklappten Standbeine in die U-Profile der in dem gegenüberliegenden Kastenprofil angeordneten Standbeine einegreifen, wodurch des weiteren eine wesentliche Raumersparnis erzielt wird.
