Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0119976A2] A lifting and transporting apparatus for patients/disabled persons comprises a mobile U-shaped frame (1) having two substantially horizontal and parallel legs (1a, 1b) and a transverse member (1c); a vertical column (2) mounted on the transverse member (1c) wich a concentric, telescopically movable pipe (3) that can be raised and lowered by means of an actuator (3a); and a crossbar (4 min ) with two lifting bars (5a, 5b) mounted thereon extending substantially parallel with and in the same direction as the legs (1a, 1b) of the frame (1). At the middle section thereof, the crossbar (4 min ) is provided with a securing means (4) that is longitudinally movable on but non-rotatable about the telescopic pipe (3), and one end of each respective lifting bar (5a, 5b) is provided with individually movable, non-rotatable securing means (8) on the crossbar (4 min ), permitting asymmetrical adjustment of the lifting bars relative to the U-shaped frame (1) of the apparatus.
