[origin: EP0120132A1] 1. A process for the bleaching of raw paper materials with formamidine sulphinic acid at a temperature of from 50 to 130 degrees C, a pulp density of from 2 to 20 % by weight and a residence time of from 1 to 120 minutes in an alkaline aqueous sludge, characterized in that the pH lies between 9.7 and 12 at the beginning of the bleaching reaction and between 7 and < 9 after termination.
