Cardboard box with automatic locking means, equipped with a carrying handle constituted by one suitably cut and grooved flap, comprising successive end-to-end panels designed to form the large upper (1) and lower (2) faces of the box, said faces being joined up via a rear panel (3), upper (6) and lower (8) side flaps, a front face panel (11), a front flap (12) used for locking and lower front side-flaps (10), the front face panel (11) having a handle-cut flap (27) of double thickness, one lower face (17) of which remains attached to said front face panel (11) after folding, whereas the other upper face (18) remains attached after folding to a locking flap (19) when the latter is separated from the front face panel (11), said locking flap (19) being held in locked position against the front face panel (11) by way of two tabs (11a, 11b) which are formed on either side of the handle when this is formed, and of lower front side-flaps (10), said handle (27) being thereafter engaged in a slot (14) made in the front flap (12), characterized in that the tabs (11a, 11b) have tenons (25) which are engaged in slots (24) provided in the lower large face (2) and in that the front flap (12) presents side stubs (15) which are engaged in slots (26) provided in the lower front flaps (10) and ensure the complete fastening of the box.
