[origin: US4518341A] A press is described for manufacturing plates, etc., having a press die which can be moved against a countermold for pressing, the press die being molded in accordance with the inner shape of the plate, etc., to be pressed, and having an elastic membrane closing a cavity in the countermold and mounted at its edge which is adapted to the dimensions of the edge of the finished plate. The membrane is provided with an annular slot corresponding to the base of the plate and is capable of having porcelain body in powder form distributed over it in the limits set by the mounting, when the press die is moved a distance away from the membrane, the cavity covered by the membrane being capable of being filled with a pressure medium which can be pressurized when the press die has been moved onto the porcelain body in powder form distributed over the membrane. The press die has a coating which is provided at the edge with a torus bulging towards the membrane. A self-contained annular groove may be provided in the edge of the membrane opposite this torus.

Beschrieben ist eine Presse zum Herstellen von Tellern od. dgl. mit einem zum Pressen gegen eine Gegenform Heranfahrbaren Preßstempel, der der Innenform des zu pressenden Tellers od. dgl. entsprechend geformt ist, und mit einer einen Hohlraum in der Gegenform abschließenden, an ihrem den Abmessungen des Randes des fertigen Tellers angepaßten Rand eingespannten, elastischen Membran, die mit einer den Fuß des Tellers entsprechenden Ringrille versehen ist und auf der pulverförmige Porzellanmasse bei auf Abstand von ihr gefahrenem Preßstempel in den durch die Einspannung gegebenen Grenzen verteilbar ist, wobei der von der Membran abgedeckte Hohlraum mit einem Druckmittel füllbar ist, das nach Heranfahren des Preßstempels auf die auf der Membran verteilte pulverförmige Porzellanmasse unter Druck setzbar ist. Der Preßstempel weist dabei eine Beschichtung auf, die am Rand mit einem in Richtung auf die Membran vorgewölbten Ringwulst versehen ist. Gegenüber diesem Ringwulst kann im Rand der Membran eine in sich geschlossene Ringnut vorgesehen sein.
