The engine proposed is in the form of a two-stroke diesel engine which, in a preferred embodiment, has two mutually parallel cylinders (2a, 2b), which in each case contain two opposing pistons (3a, 4a) and (3b, 4b) respectively. The two pistons lying on the same side, pistons (3a) and (4b) and pistons (4a) and (3b), of the two cylinders act on a common rocker (11a) and (12a) respectively, which is mounted in the casing of the internal-combustion engine. Each rocker (11a), (12a) is connected by means of a connecting rod (9) and (10) respectively to a common eccentric (8) on the crankshaft. <IMAGE>

Es wird eine Gegenkolben-Brennkraftmaschine in Form einer Zweitakt-Dieselmaschine vorgeschlagen, die in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform zwei zueinander parallele Zylinder (2a, 2b) aufweist, die jeweils zwei gegenläufige Kolben (3a, 4a) bzw. (3b, 4b) enthalten. Die beiden auf der gleichen Seite liegenden Kolben (3a) und (4b) bzw. (4a), (3b) der beiden Zylinder wirken auf eine gemeinsame Wippe (11a) bzw. (12a), die im Gehäuse der Brennkraftmaschine gelagert ist. Jede Wippe (11a), (12a) ist über ein Pleuel (9) bzw. (10) mit einem gemeinsamen Exzenter (8) auf der Kurbelwelle verbunden.
