[origin: US4566877A] A process for conditioning carbon rich material in the form of finely divided solid particles includes the steps of mixing at least 70% of the finely divided solid particles with an aqueous solution, mixing in approximately 0.1 to 5% of a surface active additive with foaming properties, homogenizing and aerating the resultant to produce a carbon foam.

Conditionnement de matière riche en carbone, notamment de charbon, à l'état de particules solides finement divisées, conditionnement qui se présente sous la forme d'une mousse au carbone formée par un mélange homogène et aéré de matière carbonée à 70% en poids au moins, d'eau et d'un adjuvant tensio-actif moussant à environ 1% en poids. La mousse au carbone selon l'invention est stockable sur de longues durées et se transporte aisément en conduite. Elle trouve une application préférentielle en tant que combustible auxiliaire injectable aux tuyères d'un haut fourneau sidérurgique.
