[origin: EP0123794A2] The fabric with a density of 0.005 to 0.05 g/cm<3> is produced by processing the latent crimp fibres into a fibre web with or without needling, spraying with a binder and then drying at a temperature at which no crimping of the fibres occurs, then initiating the crimping of the fibres and thus causing the web assembly to shrink, with the proviso that the web comprises at least 30 % by weight of latent crimp fibres or fibre blends and, if desired, less than 30 % of thermal binding fibres.
