Switchgear for high-voltage switching plant, particularly an earthing switch, with a fixed contact (2) connected to a busbar (1), and a switch contact (4) movable in a swivel plane by means of an actuating arm (3) and thereby capable of being pushed on to the fixed contact (2), in which the fixed contact (2) has a pushing-on area (8) and the switch contact (4) possesses at least one pair of contact fingers (10) which in the closed state of the switchgear fit tightly on both sides of the fixed contact (2) in the pushing-on area (8) and thereby project beyond the pushing-on area (8) of the fixed contact (2) in the direction of length of the actuating arm (3), characterised in that a capturing unit (11) for the contact fingers (10) is mounted on the fixed contact (2), and in the closed state of the switchgear, clasps and supports, on their sides that face away from the pushing-on area (8), the ends of the contact fingers (10) projecting beyond the pushing-on area (8) of the fixed contact (2).
