Abstract (en)
To avoid damaging the longitudinal edges of link belts as they rotate, in particular in paper machines, it is proposed that the longitudinal edges of the link belt are covered at least in portions by a protective element which extends essentially perpendicularly to the wires passing through the link belt. The protective element can consist of a wire bonded to the longitudinal edges of the link belt, for example by welding, adhering or tying into the wire coils. The edges of the link belt, including the protective element, are advantageously coated with a plastic.

Zur Vermeidung von Beschädigungen der Längsränder der Gliederbänder bei ihrer Rotationsbewegung, insbesondere in Papiermaschinen, ist vorgesehen, daß die Längsränder des Gliederbandes zumindest abschnittsweise durch ein zu dessen Steckdrähten im wesentlichen senkrecht verlaufendes Schutzglied abgedeckt sind. Das Schutzglied kann aus einem Draht bestehen, der mit den Längsrändern des Gliederbandes verbunden ist, beispielsweise durch Schweißen, Kleben oder Einbinden in die Drahtwendeln. Die Ränder des Gliederbandes einschließlich des Schutzglieds werden vorteilhaft mit Kunststoff beschichtet.
