A roof covering system for waffle slab construction, the roof covering consisting of interlocking plates which are secured in place without any folding or flanging being necessary, each plate consisting of a lower or middle web (2), two riser webs (3, 4), extending outwards from which are connecting webs (8, 9), the system also comprising anchoring devices ; the first riser web (3), which engages under a retainer rib (11) of the anchoring device (1), having a trapezoidal channel (5) ; the connecting flange (9) of the second riser web (4) having a catch-hook (7) which engages in the trapezoidal channel (5) under the connecting web (8), which it embraces, characterized in that the anchoring device (1) has a second retainer rib (10) projecting in the opposite direction and lower down than the first retainer rib (11) ; the second riser web (4) having a triangular channel (6) which engages under the second retainer rib (10) of the anchoring device (1) ; the two riser webs (3, 4) having the same lengths and being disposed symmetrically with respect to the anchoring device (1).
