Abstract (en)

1. A laundry washing machine having a drum with a horizontal shaft, which drum is mounted for rotation in a tub for receiving the washing and rinsing water, which tub is subject to rapid and substantial temperature variations when it is filled with water and comprises at least two separable parts, that is a vessel, comprising a substantially cylindrical horizontal shell provided with a substantially vertical back, and a cover by means of which the vessel can be closed at the side facing the back, said vessel and cover being clamped against one another to form the tub assembly and co-operating with each other by peripheral ribs and grooves which axially compress an elastic seal, at least one of the two separable parts of the tub being made of a thick synthetic material, characterized in that the vessel and the cover are elastically clamped against one another and are in contact with a single rigid peripheral abutment situated at one side of said seal, and in that the vessel and the cover, which are subject to deformation during rapid temperature variations, can perform a pivotal movement relative to each other about said abutment in a direction which promotes compression of the seal under the influence of said temperature variations.

L'invention concerne une machine à laver le linge à tambour horizontal monté dans une cuve constituée de deux parties, un corps (1) et un couvercle (5) serrés l'un contre l'autre en pressant axialement un joint d'étanchéité (11) élastique, au moins l'une des deux parties dissociables (1 et 5) de la cuve étant réalisée en une matière synthétique épaisse. Selon l'invention le corps (1) et le couvercle (5) reposent l'un contre l'autre sur une butée périphérique rigide unique située d'un côté du joint (11) de façon que la déformation de la matière synthétique lors des chocs thermiques comprime le joint par pivotement autour de la butée.
