[origin: US4679387A] A reinforcing cord made of several steel wires includes a metal wrapping wire coiled around steel wires. The hardness of the wrapping wire is substantially less than the hardness of the steel wires. Preferably the wrapping wire is a flat wire whose longer side engages the cord.

Verstärkungscord aus mehreren Stahldrähten zur Verstärkung von elastomeren Erzeugnissen, welcher von mindestens einem Umschlingungsdraht aus Metall wendelförmig umwickelt ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Härte des Umschlingungsdrahtes deutlich geringer ist als die Härte der Stahldrähte. Von Vorteil ist es, wenn jeder Umschlingungsdraht abgeflacht ist und eine der Breitseiten des Umschlingungsdrahtes die Stahldrähte berührt.
