[origin: WO8401902A1] The catheter coupling is used to connect the back end (11) of a catheter (10) with the device (1) to which it has to be connected, for example a syringe or a bacteria filter. To provide for the connection of the catheter end (11) and to simplify the handling, the casing (3) of the coupling has, on the head side thereof, a female LUER mouthpiece (4) which is engaged to a male LUER mouthpiece (2) of the device (1). The male mouthpiece (2) has a hole (7) wherein the upper end (9) of a tubular clamping part (8) is engaged. The end (11) of the catheter is inserted therein and is held with an air-tight relationship by a threaded junction (5, 6). A ring (14) with a conical inlet to provide for a safe insertion of the catheter (10) is arranged inside the lower end (13) of the clamping part (8). The casing (3) of the coupling is provided at its lower end with a male LUER connection (18) which may be used as an insertion aid for a peridural catheter.

Le raccord de cathéter sert à relier l'extrémité arrière (11) d'un cathéter (10) avec le dispositif (1) auquel il doit être raccordé, par exemple une seringue ou un filtre de bactéries. Pour assurer la liaison de l'extrémité (11) du cathéter et pour simplifier le maniement, le boîtier (3) du raccord présente, du côté de sa tête, un embout LUER femelle (4) qui s'engage sur un embout LUER mâle (2) du dispositif (1). L'embout mâle (2) présente un trou (7) dans lequel s'engage l'extrémité supérieure (9) d'une pièce de serrage tubulaire (8). L'extrémité (11) du cathéter est introduite dans celle-ci et est maintenue de façon étanche à l'air par une jonction filetée (5, 6). Une bague (14), avec une entrée unique pour une introduction sûre du cathéter (10), est placée à l'intérieur de l'extrémité inférieure (13) de la pièce de serrage (8). Le boîtier (3) du raccord présente, à son extrémité inférieure, une connexion LUER mâle (18) qui peut être utilisée comme accessoire d'introduction pour un cathéter péridurale.
