[origin: EP0126498A1] A heavy phosphate coating, of at least 8 g/m<2>, is formed on a metal surface by applying a phosphating solution to the surface and a resin coating of at least 8 g/m<2> is then formed by electroless application of an aqueous composition of cationic resin, followed by stoving. The resultant coated surfaces have good corrosion protection.
