A strip conveyed in the longitudinal direction is shaped into a channel by means of a channel rolling mill (7). A plastic tube is inserted into the channel by means of a feeding device (8) and the channel is then bent by means of a tube rolling mill (9) around the plastic tube to form an open seam tube. The longitudinal edges of the open seam tube are welded by means of a laser. Before, at and after the welding point (17) the open seam tube is conveyed by dogs moving with it and engaging around it, the dogs being mounted on endless toothed belts (76, 77). The open seam tube is held by the dogs so that the longitudinal edges of the strip abut against one another exactly at the welding point and a cracking in the weld seam is subsequently avoided. <IMAGE>

Ein in Längsrichtung gefördertes Band wird durch ein Rinnenwalzwerk (7) zu einer Rinne geformt. Mittels einer Zuführvorrichtung (8) wird ein Kunststoffrohr in die Rinne eingeführt und anschliessend die Rinne mittels eines Rohrwalzwerks (9) um das Kunststoffrohr zu einem Schlitzrohr gebogen. Die Längsränder des Schlitzrohrs werden mittels eines Lasers verschweisst. Vor, an und hinter der Schweissstelle (17) wird das Schlitzrohr durch mit ihm mitlaufende und es umgreifende Mitläufer gefördert, die auf endlosen Zahnriemen (76, 77) montiert sind. Das Schlitzrohr wird dabei von den Mitläufern so gehalten, dass die Bandlängsränder an der Schweissstelle genau aneinander anstossen und anschliessend eine Rissbildung in der Schweissnaht vermieden wird.
