[origin: ES8502248A1] A rotary kiln has a sealable separating gap between the kiln outlet head and an inlet shaft leading to a cooler. In order that the shortest possible drop height for the fired material falling out of the discharge end of the rotating cylinder may be maintained despite the separating gap, interengaging steps and side openings defined thereby are formed in the side walls of the kiln outlet head and the inlet shaft, and sections of the separating gap which run at different heights open into the side openings and the horizontal distance between any two steps lying opposite one another corresponds approximately to the maximum displacement path of the kiln outlet head.

Bei dem Drehrohrofen (1) ist zwischen dessen Ofenauslaufkopf (3) und dem zum Kühler (4) führenden Einlaufschacht (5) an deren Verbindungsstelle eine abdichtbare Trennfuge (9) vorhanden. Damit trotz dieser notwendigen Trennfuge eine möglichst niedrige Fallhöhe für das aus dem Drehrohrende (2a) ausfallende Brenngut eingehalten werden kann, sind in den Seitenwänden (3c, 3d bzw. 5a, 5b) von Ofenauslaufkopf (3) und Einlaufschacht (5) ineinandergreifende Abstufungen (10, 11) und hierdurch begrenzte Seitenöffnungen (12) ausgebildet, wobei in diesen Seitenöffnungen (12) in unterschiedlichen Höhenlagen verlaufende Trennfugenabschnitte (9a, 9b) ausmünden und wobei der horizontale Abstand (a) zwischen jezwei einander gegenüberliegenden Abstufungen (10, 11) etwa dem maximalen Verschiebeweg des Ofenauslaufkopfes (3) entspricht.
