[origin: US4649685A] A spacer for use in connecting the edges of panes of insulating glass, panel walls or the like is coextruded in form of a box-like body together with sealing lips and sealing strips. Its body is preferably composed of a polypropylene filled with glass fibre or mineral powder; its sealing lips of an elastomer and its sealing strips, which effect the adhesion and sealing of the panes or panel walls, preferably of a butyl rubber. The surface portion of its body which is exposed in the application thereof is provided with a vapor sealant such as, for example, a PVDC coating or an adhered metal foil to preclude the occurrence of condensation of water between the panes, wall panels or the like which it serves to space.

Der Abstandshalter (10) wird in Form eines kastenförmigen Profils (12) zusammen mit Dichtlippen (18, 20) und Dichtraupen (22, 24) koextrudiert. Das Profil (12) besteht vorzugsweise aus einem mit Glasfaser oder Mineralpulver gefüllten Polypropylen, die Dichtlippen (18, 20) bestehen aus einem Elastomer und die Dichtraupen (22, 24), die die Haftung und Versiegelung der Glasscheiden oder Paneelwandungen erbringen, bestehen vorzugsweise aus einem Butyl. An der Unterseite ist das Profil )12) mit einer Beschichtung aus PVDC oder einer Metallfolie (26) versehen, um eine ausreichende Wasserdampfdichtigkeit des Abstandshalters zu erbringen, so daß kein Wasser zwischen den Scheiben kondensieren kann.
