Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8402359A1] In a heating chamber, continuous filaments are treated with saturated steam. The heating chamber is formed of two parts (51, 52) of which the congruent surfaces are layed one on top of the other and delimit by means of a groove or bearing (54, 55) within said surfaces a narrow filament channel (10). The closing as well as the heating of the chamber are carried out by directing the saturated steam to the parts (51, 52) from the back. The superficial rear area which is impinged by the saturated steam is more important than the corresponding area situated between both parts. The surfaces impinged by the saturated steam are preferably delimited by tight bands (25, 41). The parts may have a cylindrical or parallelepipedic shape.
