Abstract (en)

[origin: JPS59208046A] PURPOSE:To produce efficiently and inexpensively a particle dispersed composite material having excellent mechanical properties by forming a composite fine powder material having a specific grain size from ceramics and a metal and dispersing the fine powder material in a matrix metal. CONSTITUTION:Si3N4 is charged into a reaction chamber 5 and gaseous N2 is introduced from a preheating chamber 4 into a reaction chamber 5. The chamber 5 is heated to form a molten metal 7 and the inside of the chamber is evacuated. The formed gaseous mixture is quickly cooled in the 1st expanding part 20 of a divergent nozzle 11 to form the fine powder material of Si3N4 which is passed through a specified section part 21. The Si vapor formed in a crucible 25 is introduced through a conduit 24 and a port 23 into the fine powder material of Si3N4 which is quickly cooled in the 2nd expanding part 22 to form composite fine powder material of <=10mu. Said powder is ejected into a zone 9 for manufacturing the composite material. The jet 14 of the composite powder material is forced to collide against the melt 12 of the Mg alloy in a vessel 13, by which the particle dispersed composite material is obtd.
