Polypeptides having interferon activity with an amino acid sequence corresponding to the amino acid sequence of an interteron selected from a rIFN- alpha , a hybrid rIFN- alpha , rIFN- beta and rIFN- gamma in which at least one cysteine residue has been replaced by an amino acid residue which is incapable of forming an intermolecular disulfide bond; DNA sequences coding for these polypeptides: replicable plasmidic expression vehicles containing these DNA sequences; microorganisms transformed with these expression vehicles; and methods of preparing them.
