Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0128857A2] In coin testers and money counting machines there is the problem of the exact recognition of coins, coupled to the demand for a rapid cost-effective sorting in a small amount of space and with easy conversion. Because of the complexity of international coin circulation, the deflector operates with a compact quadruple sensor for diameter, material, thickness and edge quality, which determines its reference parameters from coins predetermined by the user for each channel and which, during operation, sets the acceptance or rejection channel from these. The two-stage deflector which directly follows the sensor and which ensures rapid preliminary sorting in the first stage makes it possible, because of the short distances and with an appropriate preparation of the coin mixture, to achieve a high processing speed, such as is required in counting machines. <IMAGE>
