[origin: WO8402448A1] Frost-sensitive plants are protected against frost injury by topical application thereto of non-phytotoxic virulent bacteriophages which are species-specific to the ice-nucleating bacteria normally present on the plants. The bacteriophages selectively attack the ice-nucleating bacteria and inhibit their ice-nucleating activity, thereby reducing the temperature at which frost injury occurs.

On protège des plantes sensibles au gel contre les dégâts causés par le gel par une application topique de bactériophages virulants non phytotoxiques qui sont spécifiques pour l'espèce aux bactéries formant des cristaux de glace présentes normalement sur les plantes. Les bactériophages attaquent sélectivement des bactéries formant des cristaux de glace et inhibent leur activité de formation de cristaux de glace, abaissant de la sorte la température à laquelle surviennent des dégâts causés par le gel.
