Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0129024A2] A one-part plastic snap hinge has two hinge parts connected to one another by means of a main joint (6'). At least one resilient connection piece (8), for example in the form of a tension spring, is connected at its two ends to the two hinge parts by means of secondary joints (10', 12'). The secondary joints are each at a distance from the main joint (6') transversely in relation to the joint axes. In such a snap hinge, the hinge parts can snap out of a position of unstable equilibrium into one end position or the other. According to the invention, such a snap hinge, for example in its use as a bottle cap, can be made practicable for an extended or a different group of materials than the hitherto conventional snap hinges made of polypropylene. This is achieved in that the snap hinge is produced from polyethylene of low density, and in that at least the main joint and preferably also the secondary joints are designed as bands (16, 18, 20), the length of which is greater than their thickness. <IMAGE>
