1. A process for dry passivation of magnesium or magnesium alloy in the divided state characterised in that the magnesium or the magnesium alloy is brought into intimate contact with a corrosion inhibitor in the finely powdered state, formed by a mineral compound whose cation is selected from zinc, cadmium, barium, lead and tin and whose anion is selected from chromate, bichromate, permanganate, chlorate, perchlorate, vanadates, phosphates, fluorophosphate, fluoride, and borates, the contacting operation being carried out in three successive stages : in a dry atmosphere, then in an atmosphere which is saturated with water vapour but in the absence of water in the liquid state and finally in a dry atmosphere.

L'invention concerne un procédé de passivation à sec de magnésium à l'état divisé. Le procédé consiste à mettre le magnésium divis en contact intime avec un inhibiteur de corrosion à l'état pulvérulent, en atmosphère sèche puis en atmosphère saturée de vapeur d'eau, mais en l'absence d'eau liquide, puis finalement en atmosphère sèche. L'inhibiteur est un composé minéral dont le cation est choisi parmi le zinc, le cadmium, le baryum, le plomb et l'étain, et dont l'anion est choisi parmi le chromate, le bichromate, le permanganate, le chlorate, le perchlorate, les vanadates, les phosphates, le fluorophosphate, le fluorure, les borates, et il est introduit dans une proportion comprise entre 0,01 et 1% et, de préférence, entre 0,05 et 0,2% en poids par rapport au magnésium à passiver.
