[origin: EP0129664A2] Above the support is a reservoir chamber for the material whose front boundary in the direction of movement of the support is formed by a rotatingly driven roller and whose rear and side boundaries are formed by walls. The roller and the rear wall of the reservoir chamber are designed and capable of moving relative to one another in a manner such that the material can be delivered from the reservoir chamber and applied to the support in the form of metered amounts continuously following one another at equal distances. The distances of the consecutive portions are so dimensioned that they are able to flow into one another on the support to form a layer which is then continuous. <IMAGE>
