[origin: US4592295A] There is provided an automatic shirt cuff manufacturing unit comprising an overcast stitching machine, a buttonhole forming machine and a button sewing machine. The unit includes means for conveying the cuff to the overcast stitching machine, means for removing the cuff from the overcast stitching machine, means for positioning at least one of the ends of the cuff with respect to one of the working heads of the buttonhole forming and button sewing machines, the working heads of said machines being arranged opposite one another, means for orienting the cuff so that it assumes the proper orientation, or an orientation at 180 DEG from it, under the working heads, means for bringing the cuff under said heads while maintaining it in correct position, and means for removing the cuff from the machines.

Installation pour la fabrication de poignets de chemises, comportant une machine de surpiquage (24), une machine (48) pour faire la boutonnière et une machine (44) pour courdre le bouton. En vue d'automatiser la fabrication, l'installation comprend des moyens pour amener le poignet à la machine (24), des moyens pour éloigner le poignet de cette dernière, des moyens pour positonner au moins l'une des extrémités du poignet par rapport à l'une au moins des têtes de travail des machines (44, 48), des moyens pour orienter le poignet de façon qu'il se présente dans une orientation adéquate ou dans une orientation à 180° de celle-ci sous lesdites têtes, et des moyens pour éloigner le poignet desdites machines (44,48).
