[origin: EP0131310A1] The blade folding machine comprises a drive control for driving the conveyor belts of the machine. Said drive control stops the driving when a sheet which has been fed and recorded by the sheet detector (26) has not come out in time from the detection zone of the sheet detector (26). The sheet detector (26) is arranged at a certain distance and is ajustable with respect to the sheet length, to the stop where the sheets to be folded are stopped before being depressed by the folding blade into the folding slot. The driving control is independent from the control of the blade foldng machine and stops the driving of the conveyor belts only after a predetermined time has elapsed following the detection of a sheet by the sheet detector (26) when the sheet, during said time lapse, has not yet left the detection zone of the sheet detector (26). The predetermined time lapse is fixed by a timer (32) of which the operation time depends on the difference existing between the adjusted insertion width and the operation speed of the folding machine.
