Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0131940A2] 1. A multi-layer dewatering screen in particular for the sheet-forming part of a paper making machine, comprising at least two fabric layers, an upper fabric layer made of longitudinal and cross thread whereby the topside of the upper layer represents the top side of the screen and a lower fabric layer made of longitudinal and cross threads, whereby the lower side of the lower layer represents the machine side of the screen, whereby the fabric layers are tied together at different tie points by means of threads being part of at least one of the fabric layers, characterized in that a part of the longitudinal threads and/or cross threads in the lower fabric layer, at least in the lower layer (20), is in the form of bundles (23), whereby each bundle (23) is composed of several - preferably of three or more - component filaments (3) being non-twisted together, whereby the thickness of each bundle (23) corresponds substantially to the thickness of the other longitudinal threads (21) resp. cross threads (22) of that lower fabric layer ; the tie points (A) between the layers are formed, respectively, by passing a component filament (3) of a bundle (23) over at least one crossing thread in an upper layer ; the thickness of the component filaments (3) forming tie points in the upper layer (10) corresponds to that of the longitudinal threads (11) of the upper layer (10) if said component filaments (3) are tied up as longitudinal threads or corresponds to that of the cross threads (12) of the upper layer (10) if said component filaments (3) are tied up as cross threads.
