[origin: EP0132904A2] This invention relates to a securing device for attaching a closure 7 to a container aperture 9, comprising a preformed thread member 1 which is adapted to be fixed to the region defining the aperture 9, wherein the closure 7 may be held in sealing contact with this region so as to close the aperture 9. Also disclosed are a container 4 having a depressible closed aperture portion 22 and methods for attaching a thread member 1 to a container 4 having a neckring 3 and of forming a closed container 4. The invention is particularly suitable for heat-sealable cartons and allows effective closure of containers 4.
