A method of invisibly fixing two identical panels (n, n + 1) on a surface (2), each panel comprising two lateral profile portions, each in the general shape of an S or a Z, with a fixed limb and a free limb which engage into corresponding profile portions of adjacent panels, and a fixing piece (3), characterised in that said fixing piece (3) provides for positive fixing of the fixed limb of the panel (n) and resilient clipping of the free limb of the panel (n + 1).
