Abstract (en)
1. A method of recognizing cracks in a strand skin during the continuous casting of metals within a continuous casting mould, wherein the continuous casting mould and the strand (3) perform a periodically discontinuous relative movement (1), characterised in that eddy currents (12) are induced in the strand skin (4) by means of a first magnetic field (11) produced in a side wall (2) of the continuous casting mould, and that a second magnetic field produced in the side wall (2) of the continuous casting mould by these eddy currents (12) is measured and compared to a limit value.

Um ein Hängenbleiben einer Strangschale (4) an einer Seitenwand (2) einer Stranggießkokille mit einfachen Betriebsmittlen zuverlässig und unverzüglich anzuzeigen, so daß erforderliche Gegenmaßnahmen noch in der Zeit getroffen werden können, in der sich ein Riß der Strangschale innerhalb der Kokille befindet, wobei die Stranggießkokille und der Strang (3) eine periodisch diskontinuierliche Relativbewegung (1) ausführen, werden in der Strangschale (4) Wirbelströme (12) mittels eines in einer Seitenwand (2) der Stranggießkokille erzeugten ersten Magnetfeldes (11) induziert, und wird ein durch diese Wirbelströme (12) in der Seitenwand (2) der Stranggießkokille erzeugtes zweites Magnetfeld gemessen und mit einem Grenzwert verglichen.
