[origin: WO8402857A1] A hydrogen generating system (10) which produces hydrogen instantaneously from water ready use upon demand. The system includes a reactor (12) that has reaction zones including porous material (20) for generating hydrogen from steam. The zones (18a-h) in the reactor (12) can be in the form of tube (18a-h) about a heat generating chamber, and the zones (18a-h) are adapted to be selectively interconnected to each other, to atmosphere, and to the source of steam, by passages (22a-d to 28a-h) to maximize the generation of hydrogen by providing a reactor (12) of optimum flexibility. The present invention also is directed to systems which include the hydrogen generating system and which utilize the generated hydrogen as a fuel or as a chemical.

Système générateur d'hydrogène (10) produisant de l'hydrogène instantanément à partir de l'eau et prêt à l'emploi. Ce système comporte un réacteur (12) possédant des zones de réaction contenant un matériau poreux (20) pour produire de l'hydrogène à partir de la vapeur. Les zones (18a-h) du réacteur (12) peuvent avoir la forme de tubes (18a-h) entourant une chambre génératrice de chaleur et les zones (18a-h) sont conçues pour être interconnectées de manière sélective les unes aux autres, à l'atmosphère et à la source de vapeur, par des passages (22a-d à 28a-h) afin de maximaliser la production d'hydrogène en fournissant un réacteur (12) d'une flexibilité optimale. La présente invention est également destinée aux systèmes qui comprennent le système générateur d'hydrogène et qui utilisent l'hydrogène produit comme combustible ou comme produit chimique.
