A device for the automatic prevention of overfilling two containers for liquids (31, 32), particularly such as used for liquid hauling equipment, in which a shutoff element (4), held in the shutting position by a spring (5), is built into the feed pipe system (33) of the containers for liquids (31, 32), the breech mechanism of which is joined to the piston (7) of a pneumatic working cylinder (6) which is connected to a pressure air source (13) via a two positions - three way valve (9a, 9b), the actuating element of which is operated for the venting of the working cylinder (6) via a detecting element (18) sensing the level of the liquid and being situated in the respective container for liquids (31, 32), each of the containers being equipped with a two positions - three way valve (9a, 9b) actuated by the detector element (18), characterized in that the two containers for liquids (31, 32) can simultaniously be filled via a common feed pipe system (33) in which the shutoff element (4) is common for both containers for liquids (31, 32), and that the two positions - three way valves (9a, 9b) are connected with each other and with the pressure air source (13) via a three positions - three way valve (36) with positive feed back control.
