The Diesel engine has at least one cylinder which can be used, as required, either as an engine or as an air compressor. When its extra valve (33) is closed, the cylinder (1) works normally as an engine. When the vehicle slows down, the valves (24), (43) close. The rocker arm (5) of another engine cylinder opens the valve (33) at the end of the compression stroke, while the distributor (12) cuts off the injection. The compressed air is stored in the tanks (38), (39). Use in eliminating an auxiliary compressor and the corresponding power losses.

L'invention concerne un moteur Diesel dont au moins un cylindre peut être à volonté utilisé, tantôt comme moteur, tantôt comme compresseur d'air. Quand sa soupape supplémentaire (33) est fermée, le cylindre 1 est normalement moteur. Quand le véhicule ralentit, les vannes (24), (43) se ferment. Le culbuteur (5) d'un autre cylindre du moteur ouvre la soupape (33) en fin de compression, tandis que le distributeur (12) coupe l'injection. L'air comprimé est stocké dans les réservoirs (38), (39). Application : suppression d'un compresseur accessoire et des pertes d'énergie correspondantes.
