[origin: US4541725A] The perpetual calendar mechanism of the invention comprises in addition to the months indicator a four year cycle indicator which displays successively the normal years and the leap-year. The four year cycle indicator is controlled directly or indirectly by a rotatable assembly journalled on the month star such assembly including a year cam and a Maltese cross enabling it to effect one revolution every four years. In one variant illustrated the mechanism includes a first ring bearing the year indications and a second ring concentric to the first ring bearing an index marker. At each year change the index marker is shifted a quarter turn relative to the indications borne by the first ring.

Le mécanisme de quantième perpétuel comporte, outre l'indicateur des mois (3), un indicateur de cycle de quatre ans qui affiche à tour de rôle les années prébissextiles puis l'année bissextile. L'indicateur de cycle de quatre ans est commandé directement ou indirectement par le mobile pivotant sur l'étoile des mois, ce mobile portant aussi une came des années et une croix de Malte lui permettant d'effectuer un tour en quatre ans. Dans la variante présentée sur la figure, le mécanisme comprend un premier anneau (20) portant l'indication des années un second anneau (21) concentrique au premier et qui porte un index (30). A chaque changement d'année, l'index (30) se déplace d'un quart de tour par rapport aux indications portées par le premier anneau (20).
