A structure for supporting a spherical bottom segment (2) of a spherical metal container as said spherical bottom segment is to be inserted into a concrete bed (1), comprising a removable supporting ring (7), which is disposed between the concrete bed (1) and the spherical segment (2) and serves to support the bottom end can (3), and removable supports for supporting ring zone portions, which have been joined to the bottom end cap (3) of the spherical segment (2) or to ring zones (4, 5, 6) which have previously been joined to said bottom end cap (3), characterized in that the supports consist pf individual hinged supports (8), which are distributed around the periphery and extend radially with respect to the center of the spherical container, and at least three additional supports (9) are provided for the uppermost ring zone (6) of the spherical segment (2) and are supported on the uppermost annular zone (6) and on the concrete bed (1) for a pivotal movement and equally distributed about the periphery and pivotally movable only in the direction of the associated vertical plane extending through the center of the spherical container.
