[origin: US4748294A] A relay housing comprising a cover plate which is inserted in a step-shaped recess of a housing rim. The rim portion of the plate has a reduced thickness so that there is formed a rim channel between the plate and the housing rim. The channel is in communication with fill-in cavities in the cover plate through which the channel is filled with a self-hardening or curable material. The fill-in cavities are formed as flat recesses adjoining the rim channel with wide openings, not connected among each other, that are at least twice as large as the width of the rim channel. The bottom of the channel slopes downwardly from said openings. This arrangement permits a quick sealing by use of only small amounts of sealing compound.

Ein mittels Vergußmasse dicht verschlossenes Gehäuse für ein elektromechanisches Bauelement, insbesondere Relais, mit einem durch eine in eine stufenförmige Aussparung eines Gehäuserandes eines Gehäuseteils einsetzbare Deckel- oder Bodenplatte, wobei letztere im Bereich des Deckelrandes eine kleinere Dicke aufweist, wodurch bei eingesetzter Deckel- oder Bodenplatte zwischen dieser und dem Gehäuserand ein Randkanal gebildet ist, der mit Einfüllvertiefungen in der Deckel- oder Bodenplatte verbunden ist und der Randkanal über die Einfüllvertiefungen mit härtendem oder aushärtbarem Material vergossen ist, ist erfindungsgemäß dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Einfüllvertiefungen als mit einer breiten Öffnung (10) an den Randkanal (6) angrenzende, unter sich nicht verbundene flache Ausbuchtungen (11) ausgebildet sind, wobei die Öffnungen (10) wenigstens doppelt so groß sind wie die Randbreite (12) und der Randboden (9) von den Öffnungen (10) aus schräg abfällt. Hierdurch wird ein schnelles Vergießen auch mit wenig Vergußmasse ermöglicht.
