1. Quenching equipment for a circuit breaker, in particular a universal circuit breaker, with a stack, which is laid into a housing chamber (1), of several quenching plates (2), which are disposed one beside the other at a spacing and which on the side facing a contact arrangement (3, 4) are each provided with a funnel-shaped recess (2a) displaying stepped portions (2c, 2d) towards the outside rims, and with two insulating material plates (5, 6), which flank the switching arc and are arranged in the region of the contacts (3, 4) transversely in front of the end edges of the quenching plates (2) to both sides of this recess (2a) and of which at least one covers a flame control magnet (9), wherein the upper side of this insulating material plate (5) faces the arc space and is disposed above that upper edge of the stepped portion (2c), which faces the recess (2a), characterised thereby, that the insulating material plate (5) at its end face facing the quenching plates (2) displays an angled projection (5a), which projects from its underside towards the housing wall (1a) and completely covers the flame control magnet (9) at its end face (9a) and against which the quenching plates (2), with the end edges of the stepped portion (2c) closely abutting, are arranged in the housing chamber (1) so that a groove-like depression (8) is formed from the quenching plate outline (2b, 2c) to the adjoining insulating material plate (5).

Die Löscheinrichtung hat in einer Gehäusekammer (1) einen Stapel von mehreren nebeneinander auf Abstand befindlichen Löschblechen (2) und zwei quer davor die Kontaktanordnung (3, 4) flankierende Isolierstoffplatten (5, 6). Die Löschbleche (2) sind an ihrer Stirnkontur mit einer Abstufung (2c) versehen, die insbesondere bei Allstrom-Leitungsschutzschaltern an einen bis an die Gehäusewand (1a) vorstehenden Ansatz (5a) einer einen Blasmagneten (9) abdeckenden Isolierstoffplatte (5) anstoßen. Diese bildet an ihrer Stirnfläche eine rinnenartige Vertiefung (8) zur Löschblechkontur, wodurch eine großflächige Berührung der Lichtbogensäule mit den Löschblechkanten (2b, 2c) möglich ist, und ein intensiver Wärmeentzug sowie eine Verkleinerung des Querschnittes der lichtbogensäule erfolgen. Der Löschblechstapel (2) läßt sich auch ohne Änderungen bei reinen Wechselstrom-Leitungsschutzschaltern einsetzen.
