[origin: EP0138184A2] A device for opening bottles having crown caps or screw caps and for temporarily closing the opened bottle comprises an undercutting part which is matched to the opening lip of the bottle and a thrust bearing part made from rubber-like material for sealing the opening of the bottle, and a metallic jaw opening part which is matched to the bottle neck and the cap for lifting the cap, and a lever part for the lifting operation, the lever part being formed from two parts, one of which can be inserted into the other in a telescope-like manner, and the jaw opening being formed or mounted on one part and the undercutting part and the support part being formed or mounted on the other lever part, the jaw opening (25) of the metallic jaw opening part (20) being formed larger than the outer circumference of a screw cap of a bottle and being formed with at least two indentations (22) at the edge, and the jaw opening part (20) being formed with two counterbearing parts (21) which are bent away from the jaw opening and are bent off inwards at their free ends. <IMAGE>
