[origin: WO8404003A1] A coupling assembly and a method of connecting and terminating coaxial cable. The coupling assembly includes a connector body (12) having a mating area (14) for the cable (16), a driver (32), means (18) for urging the driver and the body toward each other, a compressive member (42) positioned between the connector body (12) and driver (32) which is deformable and which has sufficient compressive strength to deform the cable jacket (44). When the compressive member (42) is deformed by the driver (32) the compressive force from the member is focused by an angled surface (37) of the connector body (12) to deform the cable (16) at the mating area (14) and to provide an environment seal and EMI seal between the cable and coupling assembly.

Montage de couplage et procédé de connexion et de terminaison d'un câble coaxial. Le montage de couplage comporte un corps de connexion (12) possédant une zone d'accouplement (14) pour le câble (16), un élément moteur (32), un mécanisme (18) pour solliciter l'élément moteur et le corps l'un vers l'autre, un élément de compression (42) situé entre le corps de connexion (12) et l'élément moteur (32), qui est déformable et qui possède une résistance à la compression suffisante pour déformer l'enveloppe du câble (44). Lorsque l'élément de compression (42) est déformé par l'élément moteur (32), une surface profilée (37) du corps de connexion (12) fait converger la force de compression provenant de l'élément afin de déformer le câble (16) à la zone d'accouplement (14) et de former un joint d'environnement et un joint d'interférence électromagnétique (EMI) entre le câble et le montage de couplage.
