A ready-for-use system for the production of homemade cigarettes by the consumer, consisting of : (a) a cigarette-paper tube (14) ; (b) an unfinished product not smokable as such, in the form of a prefabricated tobacco cartridge formed from a string of tobacco (16) and a sheath (18) surrounding it ; and (c) a loose plunger (28) in the form of a rod which may be handled unsupported and at that endface (25) of which, which serves for ejecting the tobacco string (16) from the sheath (18) into the cigarette-paper tube (14), a tubelike plug-in socket (12) is arranged coaxially ; by the measure that the outer diameter of the tobacco cartridge (16, 18) is slightly less than the inner diameter of the cigarette-paper tube (14) and the outer diameter of the plug-in socket (12) is slightly less than the inner diameter of the sheath (18) of the tobacco cartridge.

Eine Vorrichtung zum Selbstherstellen einer Zigarette durch Überführen eines vorportionierten Tabakstranges aus einer zylindrischen Stranghülle in eine Zigarettenpapierhülse hat eine axial wirksame Abstützung für den Tabakstrang, der eine Einstecktülle mit einem kleineren Außendurchmesser als dem Innendurchmesser der Zigarettenpapierhülse zugeordnet ist. Die Einstecktülle ist insbesondere Teil einer Gleithülse, die auf einem Schiebekolben über dessen Abstützende hinaus verschiebbar ist. Die Gleithülse kann ferner in einem Rahmen, Gestell oder Gehäuse gehalten und mit einer Klemmeinrichtung zum Festklemmen der aufgesteckten Stranghülle kombiniert sein.
