[origin: WO8404358A1] To service an engine (10), it is frequently determined that a cylinder liner (16) and piston (26) must be replaced. Removal is difficult and time consuming if the piston (26) is first removed through the liner (16) and the liner (16) is then grasped from below and pulled from the block (14). A method includes inserting a tool (12) into a bore (18) of the liner (16) and expanding the tool (12) into a frictional fit against the liner (16). A force is applied on the tool (12) to forcibly move the liner (16). The piston (26) and associated rings (22) and rod (24) are held in place in the liner (16) by a partial vacuum for removal with the liner (16) as a complete unit (58).

Lorsque l'on effectue le service d'un moteur (10), il arrive fréquemment qu'une chemise de cylindre (16) et un piston (26) doivent être remplacés. Un retrait est difficile et prend du temps si le piston (26) est tout d'abord retiré à travers la chemise (16) et si la chemise (16) est ensuite saisie depuis dessous et retirée du bloc (14). Un procédé comporte l'insertion d'un outil (12) dans un trou (18) de la chemise (16), puis l'expansion de l'outil (12) jusqu'à un ajustement par friction contre la chemise (16). Une force est appliquée sur l'outil (12) afin de déplacer par force la chemise (16). Le piston (26) et les segments associés (22), ainsi que la bielle (24) sont maintenus en place dans la chemise (16) par un vide partiel pour leur permettre d'être retirés avec la chemise (16) en tant qu'unité complète (58).
