[origin: US4552778A] A viscous medium such as a fabric treatment foam is applied to a fabric web by a distributing device extending across the continuously moving web. The foam is pressurized in a first stage and delivered over a long pipe to a distributing chamber of the device where it is distributed over the entire width of the web. The foam is then admitted into a compartment in which it can form a column surmounted by a float to establish a lower second pressure stage and at this lower pressure the foam passes to a pressure generator which forces the foam from a slot-like orifice at a third pressure higher than the second pressure.

Bei einem Verfahren zum Auftragen von Medien im aufgeschäumten Zustand bzw. von Flüssigkeiten auf einem Träger wird das Medium oder die Flüssigkeit zuerst mittels einer ersten Druckstufe zum Auftragungsbereich geleitet, dort über die Breite des Trägers verteilt, worauf dann eine zweite Druckstufe aufgebaut wird, mit der das Medium einer dritten Druckstufe zugeleitet wird. Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens weist eine Aufbereitungsvorrichtung für das Medium oder die Flüssigkeit einen Druckgenerator auf, dessen Ausgang über eine Leitung in einen Breitenverteilungsraum mündet, der mit dem Eintritt in die dritte Druckstufe verbunden ist, die wiederum einen Druckgenerator enthält.
