[origin: EP0142124A2] Heading machines and similar devices for releasing mineral in place in the structure are provided with a cutting head which is fitted with picks which are arranged rotatably and axially displaceably and spring-mounted in the pick holder. These picks or the pick holders are positioned with their longitudinal axis in the working direction and are equipped with a rotary part designed like a free-wheel. The rotary part designed like a free-wheel rotates the picks in a positively controlled manner by a certain angular dimension per cycle so that uniform wear and a self-sharpening effect of the pick occur. <IMAGE>
