Abstract (en)
A display in which electrons are produced from a helium discharge and are drawn through selective holes in a control matrix into a plasma-free chamber, where they absorb energies of several kV, and finally generate light spots on a fluorescent screen, is provided according to the invention as follows. The cathode (8) of the gas discharge consists of zircon, at least on its emission surface; the gas discharge itself burns in the anomalous region; in front of the control matrix there is a further electrode plane having strip lines (12), running parallel to the line conductors, which attenuate the background fluorescence. In a preferred embodiment, the gas filling is at a pressure of approximately 2 mbars, burns the plasma with a current intensity of approximately 200 mu A/cm<2> and is, furthermore, also the subsequent accelerating cathode, covered with an implantation protective layer of a high-melting-point metal. Such a display scheme provides displays which are bright and rich in contrast, in relatively stable operations. <IMAGE>
Abstract (de)
Ein Display, bei dem Elektronen aus einer Heliumentladung gewonnen und durch ausgewählte Löcher einer Steuermatrix in einen plasmafreien Raum gezogen werden, dort Energien von einigen kV aufnehmen und schließlich auf einem Leuchtschirm Lichtpunkte erzeugen, ist erfindungsgemäß folgendermaßen beschaffen: Die Kathode (8) der Gasentladung besteht zumindest auf ihrer Emissionsfläche aus Zirkon; die Gasentladung selbst brennt im anomalen Bereich; vor der Steuermatrix befindet sich eine weitere Elektrodenebene mit zeilenleiterparallelen, das Hintergrundsleuchten dämpfenden Streifenleitern (12). In einem bevorzugten Ausführungsbeispiel hat die Gasfüllung einen Druck von etwa 2mbar, brennt das Plasma mit einer Stromdichte von ca. 200µA/cm² und ist außerdem noch die Nachbeschleunigungskathode mit einer Implantationsschutzschicht aus einem hochschmelzenden Metall bedeckte. Ein derartiger Bildschirm liefert kontrastreiche, leuchtstarke Bilder in einem relativ stabilen Betrieb.
