[origin: WO8404779A1] An internal combustion engine which is combined with a thermal cycle of the Rankine type in which water is heated to steam and injected into the engine along with the fuel for increasing the engine output. Increased power can be provided with a turbine compressor (16) receiving the exhaust from the engine and compressing the air intake to the engine. An additional fuel burner (22) may be provided to drive the turbine to provide still further increased and immediate power. The engine may be run either as a two stroke or four stroke engine. A single valve (7) may be used to communicate the engine cylinder with the air intake and exhaust when used in conjunction with a rotating valve (8) which selectively communicates the single valve with the air inlet or outlet. A two cycle engine having a precombustion chamber (35) has an opening which receives a piston profile (38) for providing increased performance.

Moteur à combustion interne combiné avec un cycle thermique de type Rankine où l'eau est chauffée pour devenir de la vapeur et injectée dans le moteur avec le carburant pour accroître le rendement du moteur. La puissance peut être accrue au moyen d'un compresseur à turbine (16) recevant l'échappement du moteur et comprimant l'admission d'air du moteur. Un brûleur de carburant supplémentaire (22) peut être prévu pour entraîner la turbine afin de fournir une puissance instantanée encore accrue. Le moteur peut être utilisé comme moteur deux temps ou moteur quatre temps. Une soupape unique (7) peut être utilisée pour faire communiquer le cylindre du moteur avec l'admission d'air et l'échappement lorsqu'elle est utilisée de concert avec une soupape rotative (8) faisant communiquer de manière sélective la soupape unique avec l'entrée ou la sortie d'air. Un moteur deux temps possèdant une chambre de précombustion (35) comporte une ouverture accueillant un profil de piston (38) afin d'améliorer le rendement.
