Abstract (en)
An article is wrap-packaged in a film web to which a tear tape is attached. Prior to wrapping, cuts are made in the tear tape to form tabs. The web is then folded around the article to form a sealed tube by joining its longitudinal edges. The ends of the tube are squeezed transversely to seal the ends of the tube. The tab lies in the region of the transverse seal. However, the sealing mechanism is recessed in the vicinity of the tab so that it remains free. Individual packages are made released by severing the transverse seal to leave the tear tab exposed.
