Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0143051A2] 1. A process for removing gangue from a metallic piece of archaeology, in particular a piece of archaeology from the sea, characterised in that the piece is treated in an aqueous bath containing 8 to 40 grams of OH**- ions/I, under a cathodic polarization, while maintaining this piece for a sufficient time to obtain at least a partial detachment of the gangue from the piece, then the piece is withdrawn from the bath and the gangue is separated from the piece.
